Rachel Y Zhang

Director and Instructor

Rachel is a PhD student in EECS at MIT studying theoretical cryptography and error correcting codes. She was on the U.S. European Girls' Math Olympiad team in 2014-2016 and has been coaching the U.S. European Girls' Math Olympiad team since 2018.

Sherry Gong

Co-Director and Instructor

Sherry is an assistant professor at Texas A&M specializing in low-dimensional topology. She competed at the IMO in 2002-2004 representing Puerto Rico, and in 2005 and 2007, representing the United States. She coached the U.S. EGMO team from 2012 to 2017.

Meghal Gupta

Co-Director and Instructor

Meghal is a PhD student in EECS at UC Berkeley studying theoretical computer science, after receiving her Bachelor's degree from MIT. She coached the U.S. European Girls' Math Olympiad team between 2018 and 2023, and competed on the team herself in 2015 and 2016.

2024 Staff

Brynmor Chapman

Instructor

Hello! My name is Brynmor (BRIN-more), and I primarily teach introductory algorithms at MIT (KAHL-tek). I grew up near Tallahassee, Florida, and I am roughly 7% bubble tea by mass. My research interest is complexity theory, or roughly, proving what computers cannot do (not to be confused with tech ethics — the study of what computers should not do). I look forward to meeting and learning from all of you :)

Megan Davi

Resident Assistant (RA)

Megan Davi is a rising sophomore pursuing a Bachelors in Math and Computer Science. She enjoys mathematics and problem solving, and helping others discover their love for these as well. She participates in many math competitions, both locally and nationally, including MathCounts Nationals, Math Prize for Girls, and the Putnam exam. She plays violin, and in her free time enjoys crochet, reading, crafts, and videogames.

Rey Li

Teaching Assistant (TA)

Rey is a rising junior at MIT excited to TA for the third time. A serial yapper who loves to play {board, video} games with people. Participated in MOP 2020 and 2021.

Vivian Loh

Teaching Assistant (TA)

Vivian will be a freshman at Caltech this fall. She really enjoys olympiad math, especially geometry, and has participated in many math contests and camps throughout high school, including EGMO and MOP. She also loves teaching and interacting with the math community, running the online math organization Athemath, listening to EDM, and playing around on GeoGebra.

Brian Reinhart

Instructor

Brian is a Master's student at Oxford University studying algebraicnumber theory. He attended the US olympiad training program in 2015-2017, and has been teaching high-level competition math since 2015, including teaching at Canada/USA Mathcamp in 2018 and at G2 itself in 2022.

Olha Silina

Instructor

Olha is a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University studying Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization. She represented Ukraine at EGMO 2015- 2016 and at IMO 2016.

Victoria Xia

Instructor

Victoria Xia is former math olympian turned software engineer. In her former life she was a two-time gold medalist at each of the China Girl's Math Olympiad (2011, 2012) and the European Girl's Math Olympiad (2012, 2014). She's most likely found out in nature, on the tennis court, or curled up on the couch with a book.

Neal Yan

Teaching Assistant (TA)

Neal is a high school graduate from the Bay Area who spends their free time messing around on GeoGebra, doing olympiad math, playing rhythm games, and reading into history and politics. Attended MOP 2023.
